Mikko Jaakkola

Mikko Jaakkola is Senior Director at Synaptics Incorporated, where he leads product management for the company’s wireless and IoT connectivity portfolio. In this role, he works closely with industry and ecosystem partners to define products for next-generation connected devices. Before joining Synaptics, Mikko was a Director at Qualcomm, where he led product definition for next-generation IoT microcontroller and high-performance Wi-Fi platforms spanning silicon, operating systems, and developer tools. Earlier, he worked on 5G fixed wireless devices and served as CTO for HMD Global’s Nokia Android smartphone portfolio. Mikko previously held technology and engineering leadership roles at Microsoft and Nokia, where he contributed to major advances in mobile connectivity, including the creation of the world’s first cellular smartphone with Wi-Fi connectivity. He holds 14 patents related to mobile internet and wireless technologies and has more than 30 years of experience productizing emerging technologies, leading proof-of-concept initiatives, and driving cross-functional integration across mobile, IoT, wireless, and software platforms. Mikko holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Tampere University of Technology in Finland and completed executive MBA training in Managing Partnerships and Strategic Alliances at INSEAD in France.
