During CES 2020, Synaptics announced the versatile VS600 series of next generation SoCs with AI for multiple market segments including smart displays, smart cameras, video soundbars, set-top-boxes, voice-enabled devices and emerging computer vision IoT products. This blog focuses on the smart set-top-box (STB) market segment.
The VideoSmart™ VS600 series includes devices for both the high-performance and the value segments of the STB market. Such segmentation enables operators to develop multiple set-top-box SKUs while leveraging the investment across them.
The VS600 series SoCs support all the legacy Conditional Access Systems (CAS) such as Nagra, Synamedia and Irdeto, while also supporting all the major internet streaming services. Synaptics is also a close Google partner and on the Elektra program reference design as well as a Netflix partner and participant in the Hailstorm program making the VS600 platform ready for fast deployment. This complete solution, enhanced with far-field voice, wake word, and audio technologies enables operators to quickly deploy hybrid set-top-boxes that offer a rich media watching experience to their subscribers.
In addition, our SyNAP™ (Synaptics Neural Network Acceleration and Processing) technology enables operators to launch new compelling use cases to increase their ARPU and limit subscriber churn. New monetization revenue streams can also be enabled using SyNAP to securely perform video analytics.
