Whether handwriting recognition or touch sensing, the toughest problems in human-machine interface always come down to connecting the analog world of the human senses to the digital world of computers. Hardware solutions like capacitive and inductive sensors require a delicate mix of sensitive analog circuits and powerful digital computation. Our chips are the culmination of years of experience in mixed-signal integrated circuit design.

At Synaptics we develop all aspects of our technology in-house, from analog circuits to microprocessors, firmware, boards, and drivers. This system-level approach allows us to tailor our circuits very precisely to their function, resulting in chips that excel in both cost and performance. Our approach lends itself to a balance of elegance and flexibility; this is why the very same ASIC works well and is cost-effective in sensors as different as the TouchPad and TouchStyk.

Synaptics holds over 40 issued patents in basic circuit design and chip architectures, not even counting our many patents on pattern recognition, capacitive sensing, and inductive sensing.
