Gestures and Multi-Touch

A gesture is an action, typically a movement of a user’s finger on a Touchpad or Touchscreen interface, that is recognized by a device to perform a specified function. The functions associated with a gesture are customizable and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of a device or application. As human interfaces become more intelligent and intuitive, more and more gestures can be used to control device applications.

With in-house usability and human interface functions, Synaptics excels in gestures and multi-touch technology. Our growing library of gesture algorithms can be integrated in our human interface solutions. Enhanced Gesture Recognition (EGR), Flick, Two-Finger Flick, ChiralMotion™ and ChiralRotate™ all put new functionality at the user’s fingertips.

Why Choose It?

  • Intuitive Use—Because they mirror known user actions, gestures are inherently intuitive.
  • Easy Input—Our technology can recognize complex patterns of multiple touches and turn them into input.
  • A Richer User Experience—Ultimately, gestures and touch interactions translate into easier use.
  • Flexibility—Bring gestures to PC notebooks, slates/tablets, and mobile devices (TouchPad™ and ClearPad™).
