Veterans Supportive Services Agency

VSSA logoFounded in 2011 by Tiara Cortez’s (Synaptics employee) father, a Disabled Vietnam War Veteran, Veterans Supportive Services Agency, Inc. (VSSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization solely dedicated to providing life enhancing supportive services to US Armed Forces Veterans and families. In the year since its inception, VSSA has served over 200 local Veterans. VSSA volunteers have logged over 2000 hours in the last year.

VSSA currently provides all of its services through a City of San Jose-owned Community Center called Noble House, also known as the Veterans Supportive Services Center of Silicon Valley. Our goal with the May 12 Food Trucks Fundraiser is to raise enough funds to purchase 10 laptops for VSSA sponsored computer courses.

As a volunteer, she is developing resume writing workshops and interviewing skills workshops for Veterans who are assimilating into the workforce. I also serve as Secretary of the Board of Directors and Co-Chair of the Fund Development Committee.

How you can help:

  1. Attend, participate in and have fun at the May 12 Food Trucks Fundraiser. 10% of the Food Trucks’ proceeds will be donated to VSSA.
  2. Donate to a worthy cause. If you cannot attend the May 12 event, donations can be made at http://vssainc.org/getinvolveddonate.html
  3. Volunteer your time in leading a workshop with VSSA and/or refer Veterans who may need help with navigating their benefits applications
